Massive Demonstrations in Washington, D.C.

In Washington, D.C., over 20,000 protesters gathered near the Washington Monument under cloudy skies. The event, supported by over 150 activist groups, was part of a larger movement with protests across all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. Attendees voiced opposition to Trump’s policies on immigration, education, and economic decisions like tariffs.

Economic Concerns and Policy Criticism

Some protesters criticized Trump’s tariffs, fearing they would harm farmers and workers. Some demonstrators carried international flags, while others, including Democratic lawmakers, voiced disapproval of Trump’s domestic agenda.

Social Security Cuts Spark Outrage

A major concern for many was Trump’s efforts to reduce the federal workforce, including cuts to the IRS and Social Security Administration.

White House Responds

The White House defended Trump’s position on Social Security, with Press Secretary Liz Huston claiming the president would protect benefits for eligible recipients, while accusing Democrats of attempting to extend them to illegal immigrants.

Global Opposition

The protests weren’t just in the U.S. Similar demonstrations took place in European cities like Berlin, Frankfurt, and London, where Americans abroad voiced their opposition to Trump’s policies, showing that the resistance to his agenda is widespread and growing.

The protests highlight a significant and global pushback against Trump and Musk’s efforts to reshape government and expand presidential power.
